Anton Stadler Trio - 7.30 pm, Saturday 23rd March 2013

Bringing together three players with considerable music reputations, the Anton Stadler Trio plays key works in the clarinet–viola–piano repertoire. Janet Hilton (clarinet) is one of Britain's foremost clarinettists, while Robin Ireland (viola) was well-known as the violist of the Lindsay String Quartet with whom he played for 20 years. Virtuoso pianist Sarah Beth Briggs, a distinguished concert pianist in her own right, is one of Janet's long-standing duo partners.
The programme includes Mozart's 'Kegelstatt' Trio, which was first played by Anton Stadler, for whom Mozart wrote his Quintet for Clarinet and Strings and his Clarinet Concerto, and after whom the group is named.
Complete programme:
- Mozart: 'Kegelstatt' Trio, K498
- Schubert: Arpeggione Sonata, D821
- Schumann: Märchenerzählungen, Op 132
- Poulenc: Clarinet Sonata
- Bruch: Four Pieces for Clarinet, Viola and Piano, Op 83
