We shall celebrate the resumption of our concerts in December with first of a series of programmes featuring both established artists and impressive newcomers, in a variety of musical groupings. We start with a Sunday afternoon concert given by two contestants in this year's Sevenoaks Young Musicians Competition, whom we have especially chosen to play for us. We also have two String Quartets, one of which, the Tippett String Quartet, will be joined by young pianist, Emma Abbate, to play piano quintets by Stephen Dodgson and Schumann in a programme that includes a string quartet by Mendelssohn. In the year of Beethoven's 250th birthday celebrations, the Marmen String Quartet will play one of Beethoven's late quartets: the Quartet in C sharp minor, opus 131, as well as quartets by Haydn and Debussy. After several years since our last vocal recital we have rising star, Nick Pritchard (tenor), and Ian Tindale (piano), performing song cycles by Beethoven and Schubert. And we have flautist, Emma Halman, with the Eblana String Trio in a programme spanning more than three centuries.
All concerts take place in the Ship Theatre.
