“Of the young voices among the soloists … tenor Nick Pritchard was the most impressive.” (Guardian)

Since his time as a choral scholar at New College, Oxford, Nick Pritchard has gone on to win many awards, and to appear as soloist with many of the country’s finest choirs and orchestras, under conductors such as Sir John Eliot Gardiner, and Paul McCreesh.

His accompanist for this concert, Ian Tindale, is increasingly in demand in song and chamber music and has performed across London, the UK and Europe. He was awarded the Pianist’s Prize in the 2017 Wigmore Hall/Kohn Foundation Song Competition. Nick and Ian will perform:

  • Beethoven: An die ferne Geliebte
  • Schubert: Die schöne Müllerin

Regular partners, Nick and Ian will perform what is considered to be the first song cycle (to the distant beloved), composed by Beethoven in 1816. Schubert’s lovely maid of the mill is the first of his two great song cycles. It covers a wide range of emotions, in which the piano plays a major role—a true partnership between the performers.
