Mithras Piano Trio
19th March 2022, 19:30 - 21:30
The Mithras Trio came together in 2017 at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, since when they have won a string of first prizes in major competitions, including the 10th Trondheim International Chamber Music Competition and the 2019 Royal Over-Seas League Music Competition. In 2019 they were also recipients of the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society's Henderson Chamber Ensemble Award. They are supported by the Countess of Munster Trust.
After opening their recital with one of Haydn's delightful keyboard trios, the Mithras Trio move forward more than a century, to one of Brahms most intense chamber works, written while he was on holiday in the lovely environs of Lake Thun in Switzerland. The concert will end with Schubert's magnificent second piano trio. One of the composer's last works, and one of the few late compositions he heard performed, it is notable for a particularly lovely theme in the second movement which has been used in numerous films.
This concert is supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.
