Calathea String Quartet

The prize-winning Calathea String Quartet were Britten-Pears artists 2022-24. Imogen Holst’s short Phantasy Quartet dates from 1928, 22 years before she became Britten’s assistant. The first of Britten’s three quartets was written in 1941, when he was in America. The concert will end with a quartet famous for its “holy song of thanksgiving” heading above the third movement.
