Lumas Winds
22nd March 2025, 19:30

“Lumas Winds are an … effervescent wind quintet, lively in their performance style and enterprising in their choice of repertoire.” Their programme is a wonderful mixture of old and new, starting with an arrangement of one of Mozart’s delightful overtures. Danzi’s wind quintets are from the same period—he knew Mozart. The piece by Oliver Knussen is made up of short movements, The concert will end with one of the most widely performed works by Carl Nielsen, another composer fascinated by the natural world.
Programme:
- Mozart: Magic Flute overture
- Knussen: Three little fantasies
- Danzi: Quintet in D minor, Op 68 No 3
- Samuel Barber: Summer Music
- Valerie Coleman: Afro-Cuban Concerto
- Nielsen: Wind Quintet, Op 43
