Zemlinsky Trio
25th January 2025, 19:30
This concert features three outstanding musicians, each with wide-ranging interests, and who work also with other musicians in a variety of ensembles. Their final work in this concert is the trio for clarinet, cello and piano written by the Austrian composer from whom the trio have taken their name. The opening trio is one of several chamber compositions Beethoven wrote early in his career. Between these two pieces are a late work by Nino Rota, best known for his film scores, one written by Piazzola as a chamber work—one of his most popular compositions— and a 1998 composition by Cuban-American jazz musician, composer and bandleader Paquito D'Rivera. Programme:
- Beethoven: Trio in B flat, Op 11
- Nino Rota: Trio
- Piazzola: Oblivion
- Paquito D'Rivera: Danzón
- Zemlinsky: Trio in D minor
